/Ai /Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park

The /Ai/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park measures 5 920 km² and spans some of the most spectacular arid and desert mountain scenery in southern Africa.
It comprises the Ai-Ais Hot Springs Game Park in Namibia and the Richtersveld National Park in South Africa. Some of the distinctive features in the area include the Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa, and the Ai-Ais Hot springs.
This arid zone is characterised by a unique and impressive variety of succulent plant species and is part of the Succulent Karoo biodiversity biome, which has the richest succulent flora in the world, harbouring about one-third of the world’s approximately 10 000 succulent species.
Bisected by the Orange River, which forms the border between the two countries, it offers enormous potential for development as a viable conservation area.
